Cautious optimism at Ferrari despite rising performance.

Ferrari proceeds with caution amid a string of notable successes.

Following the summer break, Ferrari appears to have regained a competitive edge. Despite facing challenges after Charles Leclerc’s victory in Monaco, the Italian outfit has seen significant achievements from its Monegasque driver, including winning the esteemed Monza Grand Prix on home soil. Team director Frédéric Vasseur has expressed satisfaction with this upswing but maintains a measured approach to upcoming challenges, particularly in Singapore.

A String of podiums for Ferrari pre and post-break.

Since the Monaco Grand Prix, Ferrari’s drivers have shone brightly, with Carlos Sainz capitalizing on an incident involving Lando Norris and Max Verstappen in Austria to clinch a podium spot, and Leclerc finishing third in Spa before triumphing in Monza. These victories were followed by well-deserved podiums in Zandvoort and Baku, solidifying the team’s good form since the season resumed.

Despite the successful race weekends, Vasseur prefers to temper expectations, pointing out the heightened competitiveness in Formula 1 this season. “We’re experiencing a favorable period, but the scenario has been similar for all teams since the start of the season. There have been strong moments for Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren, and currently, the competition is incredibly tight with four teams capable of winning and eight drivers with winning potential,” Vasseur explains.

Ferrari seen as a formidable competitor by Norris.

Lando Norris recently deemed Ferrari a serious contender in the constructor’s championship race, a view that Vasseur cautiously welcomes. While praising his drivers, he stresses the importance of focusing on each Grand Prix individually: “This reflects our positive momentum, but in F1, situations can shift swiftly. It’s crucial to remain focused on the upcoming race to maximize our car’s potential and avoid costly mistakes.”
